ABOUT THE PROJECT


The residence, designed by Harry Gugger Studio sits on a steep slope and is located at the highest elevation of the 10,000m2 land lot, ensuring a privileged view to the Aegean Sea and a sense of openness towards the landscape. A white, cantilevered volume appears to be floating amongst the trees and over the pool area. This monolithic volume is broken down by a sequence of closed, open and semi-outdoor spaces, in order to respect the requirement for small lengths dictated by the traditional Cycladic architecture. This suggests a way of communicating the interior of the building with the countryside, passing first through the semi-enclosed spaces, whether they are semi-outdoor spaces, or are terraces with pergolas, closed on three of their four sides.
