As what we plan today is usually built over a period of three to five years, we are used to working with the future in mind. However, the future is changing faster than ever. Even the most accurate predictions can become redundant with a sudden advancement in technology. To ensure that we do not contribute to a waste of materials and investments that are no longer viable or appropriate in today’s world, we develop strategies that not only predict the future, but also possible changes in the future. Convinced that “beauty” is a necessity, our architecture is the result of permanent dialogues, where the works derive their aesthetics and shape from their close relationship with nature, making it the very expression of the context and the material from which are carved.
Our team is capable of managing large-scale projects and has very significant technical training and experience in the preparation of architectural implementation studies. Indicatively, it is mentioned that a significant part of our team had undertaken, on behalf of the consortium Impregilo S.p.A. – TERNA SA, the architectural construction documentation and support throughout the implementation of the internationally awarded STAVROS NIARCHOS FOUNDATION CULTURAL CENTRE” (SNFCC) designed by RPBW workshop. Moreover, our team has undertaken the Detail Design and/or the Execution Design of very demanding projects indicatively noted among others: the facade shop drawings of the “SKY WALKS” in King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, the Architectural Execution and BIM of the “Ayia Napa Marina” project in Cyprus and the Detail Design with BIM of the “New Cyprus Archaeological Museum”. An important parameter of our work is the coordination of the studies among all disciplines, for the full integration of the necessary structures and installations in the architectural solution, without affecting the original concept.
In the context of searching for the most suitable tools for the elaboration of our studies, the office has established BIM (Building Information Modeling) as the main process for the implementation of a building design. This means that there is a constant communication of the designer with the building he creates and can have instant figures not only about forms, but also can have immediate quantity outtakes, results on energy behavior and more important coordinate the design of other disciplines and avoid clashes. All the above can be easily communicated with clients that do not have the adequate experience to understand a technical drawing. Furthermore, it can also assist in scheduling the works during construction period and define the most optimal time planning. Upon project delivery, BIM can be used for facilities management, during the building’s life cycle provided that all the facilities data has been incorporated in the Model. Having control of all the building’s facilities with BIM, significant operational costs can be saved.
In each of our projects, all the margins of limiting the energy footprint are examined. Our team has the scientific training for sustainable energy design of buildings and is constantly researching materials, techniques and methods of saving energy and regulating harmful emissions. It has the ability to simulate the energy behavior of the building during the design phase and to inform the owner about the costs of the life cycle of the building in terms of its energy requirements. This is a very important parameter that homeowners usually do not take into account when planning an investment. However, the life cycle cost of the building is many times its construction cost. This means that with an energy efficient design the data of the investment plan of a building project can be significantly improved.
